This is the 2nd post in my monthly favorite things series. Every month I’m sharing any items, activities, events, places, or food & drink that I’m currently loving.

Audio Books
When I was younger, I read a ton of books. My homeschooling family had our own good sized book collection in addition to visiting our local library quite frequently to find new reads.
In college, I mainly read things related to schoolwork. Then after college, I suddenly didn’t have a lot of time for personal reading as a new teacher. Fast forward to now, and I’ll admit it’s still difficult to focus on reading even though I do have time. Lately I’ve been wondering if audio might be a good thing for me to try.
I signed up for Audible a few weeks ago and now have 4 books saved. In addition, I recently scored a free 3 month subscription to Scribd, a monthly service that has books, magazines, articles and audio books. I was pleasantly surprised to find many of the books that I’ve been wanting to read lately.
My new goal is to start redeeming my daily commute to work and other activities by listening to books. I went to Target last week and got one of those cassette tape things that hooks your phone up to your vehicle speakers (my vehicle is old). 😛 I’m not very tech savvy but am now wondering why I didn’t do this years ago…
I just finished Everybody Always by Bob Goff and I’m currently on Just Open the Door by Jen Schmidt.
I definitely recommend both books!
New Decor
I’ve been wanting some prints of my favorite hymns for awhile, so when I saw these on sale, I grabbed four. Once I frame them, they will be going on the wall behind my dining room table.
You can find them here!
Lilla Rose Hair Clips
I’d like to share my favorite hair clips with y’all. Not even kidding, I own about 20 of them.
They are the Lilla Rose flexi hair clips and they’re quite unique and easy to use. There’s a wide assortment of styles and colors to choose from with a new style every month only available that month. I love how they can add a pop of color and fun to any outfit!
With temps already reaching 100 here in late May, this is one way I’m planning to keep my hair up and beat the heat this summer.
I do receive a small commission if you order them, but I would never promote something that I don’t truly enjoy and use!
In addition to the hair clips, they have a wide assortment of hairbands, bobby pins, hair stick, hair pins, and even badge holders.

Learn more about sizing and styling examples here. My hair is fairly thin with lots of body because of the curls. I wear an extra small for pulling my hair half back, a small for a pony tail, and a medium for an updo/bun.
Local Fun – Shakespeare in the Park
Every Spring, there’s a production of a Shakespeare play held in Zilker Park here in Austin for free.
A group of friends and I went on the closing night. This year’s play was the Merry Wives of Windsor.
I’ll admit Shakespeare is a bit hard for me to understand but the live characters make it easier and this comedy was pretty funny.

Food with friends

Chai latte and dessert at The Steeping Room

Brunch at Picnik
Austin has a lot of great restaurants and these are a few that I tried this month.
All of these have gluten free friendly and healthier options that are delicious!
That’s it for what I’ve been loving lately in May! What about you?
